Meryl & Martin Kiss(?!): Chaos, Clues, and a Very Vintage Car on the OMITB Set

File this under “things we didn’t have on our 2025 bingo card”: Meryl Streep and Martin Short KISSING on the set of Only Murders in the Building! Yes, you read that right — Meryl and Martin. Kissing. In. Character. And it was giving chaotic romance meets murder mystery fever dream.
The iconic moment was caught on set in NYC, where fans and paparazzi alike were blessed with some truly juicy peeks at what's to come in Season 5. And if that smooch wasn’t enough, we also got a trio entrance featuring Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short pulling up detective-style in an old-school Peugeot — a nod to the vintage vibes of classic crime TV.

The Meryl x Martin Kiss: Plot Twist or Red Herring?
We still don’t know exactly what’s happening between Meryl’s character Loretta and Martin’s Oliver, but from the looks of it, their romance is heating up — or is it all part of a performance within a performance? You never really know with this show.
The kiss wasn’t just a peck either. It was full-on, mid-scene, and had the entire street buzzing. And Meryl? Effortlessly iconic in a tweed blazer and red lipstick, like she just walked off the set of a noir classic.
Enter: The Peugeot
Just when we thought it couldn’t get more peak-whodunnit, Selena, Steve, and Martin were spotted filming a scene where they dramatically pull up in an old beige Peugeot 504 — the kind of car that feels ripped from a '70s detective series.
Selena looked totally in character as Mabel, rocking a trench and fierce shades like the true Gen Z detective queen she is. She hopped out with main character energy, while Steve and Martin played it cool, giving pure “retired-but-not-really” crime-solving vibes.
📸 Fan take: “Selena coming out of that Peugeot like she’s solving a murder in Milan. Obsessed.”

The Scoop We’re Dying For
Between romantic plot twists, classic cars, and the return of the full trio, this season is clearly going full camp, full clueboard, and full chaos. And we are so here for it.
Season 5 is shaping up to be the most cinematic yet — and if you thought the mystery died with Season 3, think again. With Meryl back and seemingly smitten, and with that vintage Peugeot already stealing scenes, we might be getting a murder and a love story in the same breath.
